Demidov Yaroslavl State University
01/05/1995

Scott Lee Sharp, student

Yaroslavl is the most beautiful city I saw in Russia. The university is large enough to accommodate the needs of the different students who come on an educational exchange. And the classes offered at Yaroslavl State University are only a fraction of the many reasons one might wish to come to Yaroslavl.

It is a large city with everything one might need, yet it’s compact and quaint giving the impression of a seaside resort. If you feel the need to drag yourself away from this picturesque and ancient city which was founded in 1010, you are only a couple hours from the metropolises of Moscow and of St. Petersburg.

I met many wonderful people during my academic year in Yaroslavl, several of whom

I am still in close contact with. I improved my Russian language skills to near native proficiency. There is always something happening to keep one busy; one day it’s the Torpedo hockey team, the next it’s a play or concert, and the next a lively gathering of university students.

I highly recommend Yaroslavl to anyone thinking of visiting Russia and I can’t wait to go back and visit it personally.
