Scientific Research and Innovations

The academics of P.G. Demidov Yaroslavl State University carry out scientific research in various fieldss of knowledge. The university has a remarkable research tradition in history, psychology, law, and is currently branching out into important modern sectors, such as nano-science, IT and applied mathematics, applied chemistry, economics, ecology and social politics. Main activities:

Educational activities in the fields of preparation, retraining and professional development of experts in the sphere of basic disciplines of liberal education;

Scientific and educational activities in the fields of basic disciplines of liberal education: history, jurisprudence, philology, philosophy;

Application of modern information technologies in classical research, use of high-power calculations and supercomputer technologies;

Development of partner links with Russian and foreign scientific and educational centers.

Study of statehood and public law in Ancient Greece and Rome is the priority direction of the Centre’s activities. The reception of classical heritage (formation of European paradigms of politics, law, and culture) is in the sphere of vital interest. Educational activities of the Centre are aimed at training and professional development of specialists in classical studies, which are the basis of liberal education. The important task is application of information technology in the classics. The Centre aspires to develop cooperation with Russian and foreign scientific and educational institutions.

Objectives: performing fundamental and applied research in the fields of modern programming and verification of systems, promotion of existing developments and technologies in various fields of activities.

Research and Educational Centre “Physical Organic Chemistry”

Objectives: Implementation of innovative educational programs and performing fundamental and applied research in the fields of physical chemistry, quantum chemistry, electrochemistry of organic compounds, chemistry of organic compounds, including natural compounds, and also carbon-containing nanostructures, theoretical and pilot studies of live systems, usage of chemical information systems based on GRID technologies and high performance computing clusters.

Objectives: development of fundamental and applied research and innovations in the fields of nanoelectronics, and nanomaterials.

Established: 2007, on the basis of P.G. Demidov Yaroslavl State University (YSU) and the Institute of Physics and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPTRAS)
