Yaroslavl Governors and Heritage Preservation in the Second Half of the XIX Century

Abstract: This paper analyzes the contribution of Yaroslavl governors of the post-reform period in the restoration of historical monuments of Rostov, Uglich, Yaroslavl. The author came to the conclusion that the first results in the preservation of historical and cultural heritage of the region have been achieved as a result of cooperation of governors, scientific groups of province and local business community.

Abstract: The article is devoted to analysis of the crisis phenomena in the traditional system of replenishment of the Roman army. It studies expanding the practice of hereditary military service at the end of the II century – beginning of the III century BC. The purpose of the work is to determine the underlying mechanisms of involving children of Veterans to the Roman army, the role and importance of this practice in the evolution of the Roman army during the period under review.

Thucydides about Collection of Eisphora: on the Issue of Dating of Extraordinary Military Tax in Athens

Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of Thucydides’ evidence about paying of eisphora by the Athenian citizens in 428 B. C. The purpose of the paper is elucidation of the date of establishment of this extraordinary tax for military purposes in Athens. The author concludes that mentioned by Thucydides collection of eisphora was the first case of levy of this tax in Athenian history.

Pedagogical Model of Formation of Public Opinion on a Higher Education Institution when Developing its Image in the Market of Educational Services

Abstract: The article deals with the pedagogical approaches to the modeling formation of the competent opinion on a higher education institution, which provides a positive attitude to the educational institution and influences the creation of an effective image in terms of the competition at the market of educational services. The model components of the public opinion formation are analyzed: goal setting, organization, evaluation, and a proposed set of organizational and pedagogical terms that increase the efficiency of the process.

Diagnosis of Communicative Tolerance among Students of Creative and Non-Creative Specialties

Abstract: The article displays the research on communicative tolerance among the students of creative and non-creative (designers and economists) specialties. Research results, reveal prevailing of extreme indexes - subzero and high communicative tolerance among students-designers, students-economists in most cases show a middle level of expression of the investigated quality. Reasons of subzero tolerance to different situations are found and analysed in both groups, that allowed to draw a conclusion about predominance of infantile positions in the process of communication - for creative personalities and more adaptive forms of behavior - for economists. Infantile position for creative personalities, in our view, positively affects creative process, because it assists self-realisation creation, but in communications – it inclines to set destructive relations.

Social Cognition: Interconnection of the Processes on the Macro- and Micro-Levels

Abstract: In the article the problem of social determination of cognition in sociology is under consideration. In particular, the correspondence of subjects’ knowledge about social phenomena and processes to the normative, ideal, stratification and interaction dimensions of social structure of society is analyzed. It is argued that socio-cognitive mechanisms of social comparison, empathy, reflection and causal attribution provide correspondence of knowledge to the social structure of society.

The Comparative Characteristics of the Frequent Adjectives Used with the Lexical Units «Force» / «Cила» in English and Russian Fiction Texts

Abstract: The article deals with the comparative analysis of the adjectives used in the attributive function with the lexical units «force» / «сила». Particular attention is paid to considering the meanings of the adjectives actualized in fiction texts and distinguishing groups of adjectives united by a common seme. The results of the research have shown a greater variety of the adjectives used in the Russian language with the lexical unit «сила».

Psycholinguistic Meanings of the Word in the Linguistic Consciousness of Schoolchildren

Abstract: The study of psycholinguistic meanings of the word, radically different from lexicographic meanings has been taken. The study found that psycholinguistic meanings have unique structure semantemes, they have special semes, which are characterized by a high degree of specificity, they reflect the most important, essential characteristics of things and phenomena. The article demonstrates a new method for identifying and describing psycholinguistic meanings (at the example of the word drive).

Language Game as a Way to Improve the Communication Efficiency of the Advertising Text

Abstract: The study based on the regional material, is devoted to the phenomenon of language games as a way to improve communication efficiency of the regional outdoor advertising. The examined material displays the diversity of methods of language games used by advertising creators for attracting consumers’ attention to the advertising message: from the game with polysemantic words and the creation of nonce words to graphics selections based on the words and harping precedent phenomena. In addition, the article studies the question of the interaction of the direct and figurative senses, realized in the verbal and visual components of the advertising text.

Paradoxes Manifestation of the of Financial Leverage Effect in Russian Companies

Abstract: The article discusses the specific conditions of debt capital for Russian industrial enterprises which result in impact indicators of financial leverage, the latter playing a significant role in the investment estimates and the formation of the value of companies. It is concluded that the generally accepted estimates look paradoxical as to capital structure in relation to domestic enterprises and the possible negative consequences may follow financial borrowing.

Revival of Insolvency (Bankruptcy) Institute in Post-Soviet Russia

Abstract: The article proves the need for research of processes of formation of domestic institute of insolvency (bankruptcy) during the Post-Soviet period. It reveals the fact that in the sphere of the insolvency (bankruptcy), recreated during the Post-Soviet period, a number of essential shortcomings were inherent to the mechanism of state regulation. Some of these shortcomings have not yet been eliminated.
